FAQ

How do you personalise one on one lessons to suit the student?

One-on-one lessons are heavily influenced by the student. The student will discuss what their lessons consist of, how they will be taught, how often they will be and how many breaks they will require to suit their needs.

How do you make your lessons more mindful of the student?

Prior to starting lessons, we will discuss what the student wishes to achieve, how they learn best, as well as how frequent and long their lessons and breaks will be (one on one tutoring only). Breaks are given in both group and one on one lessons to ensure our tutors and students aren't overwhelmed by the length of the lessons. We also survey students to monitor how they are finding the lessons and what they think can be improved. Additionally, we also provide detailed feedback on their progress instead of just their grades.

Who will be tutoring the students?

We plan on having tutors who are in or have recently graduated from high school to teach lower year levels and university students to teach higher year levels. We also make it a priority to have tutors who are experienced and/or are equipped with a high level of expertise and skill in their subject. Most importantly, we will only have tutors who align with our company values; kindness, patience, fairness and inclusion.

Do you tutor students with special needs?

Yes, we do. We want to be as inclusive as possible and cater to people with different learning abilities and backgrounds. Some of our tutors have also had experience teaching students with ADHD, Aspergers and Autism. We recommend one on one lessons for students with special needs so that they are able to have full focus and attention from our tutors. As for all our students, we will also discuss what learning techniques, lesson plans and breaks will work best for them, prior to starting their tutoring with Patched Learning.
